4th Story is a privately held San Francisco Bay Area company that was founded by Steve Smith and Philip Clem, two accomplished veterans of the software and financial services industries who have focused on successful systems to enhance revenues and productivity.

Philip H. Clem, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder
For the past 20 years, Clem has designed and built state of the art technology ranging from commercial database applications to pioneering enterprise capital markets systems, including IOI and order management systems, sophisticated derivatives risk analysis and management tools and messaging-based trading and research publishing platforms. Clem began his career working with firms such as IBM and Ashton Tate, and was most recently Technical Product Manager and Architect at Longview International, where he designed and built advanced middle and front office systems for brokerage firms.

Steven A. Smith, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder
Prior to co-founding 4th Story, Smith implemented a variety of successful trading-related systems for firms such as Hambrecht and Quist, where he headed up application development and Charles Schwab, where he served as Director of Business Information Systems for the Capital Markets unit. Most recently, Smith was Vice President of Business Development and International Sales for ePIT Systems, where he was responsible for a number of milestones, including the firm's first top tier investment bank and exchange clients and its first Big Five partner.
